Message from the Headteacher
As we approach the Easter break it is a good opportunity to reflect on the achievements of the past term, to spend time with family and reset.
This week’s Performing Arts Evening marked a delightful close to the term. Students performed brilliantly, showcasing their talents and dedication. A big thank you to Mrs Hastings, whose unwavering commitment and organisation made this show possible.
Today was the follow up of our HHS Community Day activity. The finalists from each year group presented their speech to Matt Stanton, a software developer, who kindly came into school to judge the presentations on AI.
Welldone to all the students who took part.
Year 7 Freya S and Charlie H
Year 9: Chloe T
Year 10: Anya F and Anushka H
Congratulations to Anushka who was presented with the overall HHS Community Day Winner Award.
We also had the pleasure of hearing some wonderful news this week. Our Head Student, Elise, was invited to present at the Rotary Club of Harrogate after receiving their Young Citizen's Award. Elise shared her journey to becoming Head Student, her involvement in extra-curricular activities, and how she manages her time balancing Stage-coach Performing Arts, her role as an Air Cadet, and preparing for her upcoming GCSE exams. We couldn’t be prouder of her. It’s fantastic to see HHS students contributing so positively to our community.
In addition to these highlights, this week has also been Rewards Week. Congratulations to all those whose names were drawn, and thank you to everyone for their hard work and positive attitude. It's great to see so many students being recognised for their efforts!
As the GCSE exam period is approaching, we are holding an Easter School next week for our Year 11 students to support them in preparation for these exams. We hope to see as many students as possible attending to make the most of this additional support. Thank you to the staff that are faciliating this additional support.
While the vast majority of students continue to arrive to school on time, with the correct equipment and ready to learn each day, we have noticed a recent increase in the number of students arriving late to school and to lessons. At HHS, we believe in preparing students for the future, and punctuality is a key skill in fostering resilience and achieving success. To address this, we will be implementing a “reset” after the Easter break to help students develop better timekeeping habits. Further details will be outlined later in this bulletin, and we hope that parents and carers will support this initiative to ensure our students are well prepared and equipped for their future goals.
Looking ahead, we are looking forward to the term ahead and all the opportunities it will bring for our students to continue grow and succeed.
I would like to take this opportunity to wish you all a happy and positive Easter break from all of us at HHS.
We look forward to seeing students return on the 22nd April .
Mr Gill
Head of Academy
PS I am sending luck to both teams (but particularly the teachers!) in the staff vs student football match after school!
