Yesterday marked International Happiness Day, and in the spirit of spreading joy, I am thrilled to share three uplifting pieces of news that have certainly made me smile and, I hope, will do the same for you!
First and foremost, I am proud to announce that Harrogate High School has been recognized as the most improved academy in North Yorkshire for attendance! This achievement is a true testament to the hard work and dedication of both our students and staff. We are thrilled to see such progress, and we look forward to continuing this positive trend in the future.
In exciting news from the world of technology and innovation, our school took home the Gold medal in the foundation (KS3) category at the Rotary Technology Tournament. Competing against 30 local schools, our students were tasked with building a powered vehicle capable of clearing debris from pipes, using only limited materials and their own creativity and engineering skills. Congratulations to all who participated, and special thanks to Mr. Gillingwater for guiding and supporting our students throughout the competition. We couldn't be prouder of this fantastic achievement!
Finally, today is Red Nose Day, and our school has supported Comic Relief by raising money for the charity. Student leaders organised a “fun fact staff quiz” and a “vote for a teacher to be face-painted.” A big thank you to Miss Mistry for being such a good sport allowing students to face paint her and to everyone who contributed. Your donations are appreciated and will make a difference for those in need.
These events are a reminder of the spirit that makes our Harrogate High School community special.
Wishing you all a joyful and positive weekend ahead!
